Paul Assaiante, Trinity College Squash
From February 22, 1998 to January 18, 2012, the Trinity College Men’s Squash team built what still stands as the longest winning streak in the history of college athletics. Winners of 252 consecutive matches, and in the process, 13 straight National Championships, the Bantam Head Coach Paul Assaiante had a front row seat for a record that won’t soon be broken. Named one of Connecticut’s top coaches of the 20th century by The Hartford Courant, his unapparelled success in the sport includes 17 National Titles and a career record of 457-18, good for a .962 clip. The dominance of Assaiante’s teams during his tenure at Trinity has yet to be even remotely challenged at the college level. In any sport.
